David Dellucci

Dear Texas Rangers Fans:

The recent wave of hurricanes that touched down along the coastal regions of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi has drastically changed the lives of those who have connections to these areas for many years to come. Although time has passed since the most recent hurricane, it is going to take a long time before residents of these areas have their lives return to normal. As all of this was happening, I continually thought of all of the people I knew back in my home state of Louisiana, as well as the people I knew in Mississippi from the time I spent there in college. I decided that I could not sit back and do nothing about it… so I decided to set up a nonprofit foundation called Catch 22 for Blue to aid in the long-term recovery of the areas affected by the recent hurricanes.

The Catch 22 for Blue Foundation is dedicated to helping as many people as possible in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. My heart pours out to the residents of the southern Gulf Coast areas because I know that they are extremely hard-working people full of pride. Many who have done everything they were supposed to do are still suffering from the effects of the hurricanes and will continue to suffer for a long time.

I have created the Louisiana Lagniappe 22 bracelet with all proceeds benefiting the Hurricane Relief Effort. For those wondering what lagniappe means (pronounced lanyap), it is a word from the South, which means to give a little something extra like an unexpected gift.

This holiday season, I'll be hosting the Catch 22 for Blue Toy Drive and joining forces with the USMCR Toys for Tots program by helping collect much-needed toys for so many of the hurricane families relocated to the Metroplex. The need for toys will be 30% higher than previous years. The Catch 22 for Blue Toy Drive will also be hosted by KDFI/KDFW and KLUV radio. We would like you to bring a new toy that will really WOW a child on Christmas morning.

I am committed to helping those affected by the recent hurricanes that hit Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas long after the initial media coverage of the hardest hit areas subsides. If you are interested in helping, please visit my website Catch22ForBlue.org for more information.

Winning a baseball game brings happiness for a moment, but giving an unexpected gift to those who are most deserving can make a difference of a lifetime.

Sincerely,

David Dellucci
