No, there will not be a gear-drop location for equipment. Please make sure your belongings are secure as the Texas Rangers are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Can I bring my dog?

Training & Tips

The Texas Rangers recommend the following tips when training and on race day:

  • Eat a light snack or meal about one and a half to two hours before you run to help fuel your body.
  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. While training and before, during, and after your race, consume plenty of water to prevent dehydration and muscle cramping.
  • Warm up before stretching. Do not stretch the muscles while they are cold, jog lightly for a few minutes before doing some dynamic stretches:
    • Front to back leg swings
    • Sideways leg swings (may need to hold on to something for stability)
    • Lunge with rotation
    • Arm swings and arm circles
    • Power skip
  • Find a training schedule that works for your race distance and stick to the schedule as best as possible.
  • Continue your training schedule even if the weather is rainy or cold, but use your best judgment if you believe the weather is unsafe. Most races are not canceled due to rain or cold temperatures. If you train in it, you'll be ready for it.
  • It's okay to have an off day from running! It gives your body necessary time to recover.
  • Wear clothing that wicks away moisture as best as possible (dri-fit). 100% cotton clothing will retain the moisture and may rub on your body causing painful abrasions (this includes socks!).
  • Race Day: don't try anything new… keep your routine the same as much as possible - no new foods or clothing.
  • Remember, every runner/walker is different. Listen to your body and pay attention to how you feel.
