If you're a teacher and would like further information, please touch base with your contact with your Region.
In the summer of 2012, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation hosted a 16-member youth baseball team from the Japan city of Ishinomaki, as part of the 2012 Japan-America Grassroots Summit. Ishinomaki is located in the Tohoku region of Japan which was heavily damaged by the March 2011 tsunami.
Together, Texas Rangers corporate partner gloops, Inc., the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish, provided financial assistance necessary to bring to the team to Arlington. During the visit youth were greeted with an opening luncheon, followed by the opportunity to tour Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, view the Rangers batting practice on the field and be honored during a special ceremony before the game. The next day the team met Yu Darvish in person and played against the Rangers Arlington and Dallas RBI programs.
