Tim Belcher, 52, is in his 13th season with the Indians organization and 11th as a Special Assistant, a role he also held from 2002-09 and resumed in 2012. In his current position, Belcher is in uniform during Spring Training to assist the Major League and Player Development staffs with instruction and personnel decisions. He maintains these responsibilities throughout the regular season and also performs scouting duties on an as-needed basis. From 2010-11, he served as Indians Major League Pitching Coach, overseeing a staff that lowered its team ERA in both seasons with the help of one of the most effective bullpens in the American League.

The Sparta, Ohio, native compiled a Major League record of 146-140 with a 4.16 ERA over a 14-year career from 1987-2000 with seven MLB teams and 373 starts (394G, 2442.2IP, 2423H, 1130ER, 1519SO). He won 10 or more games in nine of his 14 seasons at the big league level, topped the 200.0 IP mark seven times and finished in the top 10 in his respective league's ERA on three different occasions. Belcher won the Sporting News N.L. Rookie Pitcher of the Year honors in 1988 with the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers. He was the first overall selection in both the 1983 June amateur draft (Minnesota) and the 1984 January secondary phase amateur draft (New York-AL). Belcher was an All-American pitcher at Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio in 1983 prior to being draft.
