In 2009, the Jeter's Leaders program formed an exciting partnership with Summer Discovery, one of the country's most popular and finest pre-college enrichment programs. The joint venture awarded four Jeter's Leaders, two from New York and two from Kalamazoo, scholarships to attend Summer Discovery programs at leading colleges and universities in the U.S.

Through the Summer Discovery program, junior Jeter's Leaders attend multiple-week programs at prestigious colleges and universities. Participating colleges are located in close proximity to world-class cultural, entertainment and recreation attractions. During their stay, students take college-level courses and are awarded early credit upon completion. Outside the classroom, students participate in various extracurricular activities, excursions and trips. The Summer Discovery program is a tremendous learning experience for students as they gain a valuable jump-start on the college experience.

The Summer Discovery partnership continues to benefit the selected Jeter's Leaders as it prepares them for the upcoming experiences of college academics and college life. In 2011, Summer Discovery increased participation for Jeter's Leaders from two per program to three, totaling six scholarships per year.
