    Mike Schmidt homers in 3rd inning off New York's Mike Scott at Shea Stadium for his 300th home run. Phillies win, 8 4.

  • August 14, 1984

    Juan Samuel steals 56th base, breaking Sherry Magee's club record set in 1906. Phillies lose, 3 2, in San Diego.

  • August 14, 2006

    Jimmy Rollins' 18th home run sets a club record for homers by a shortstop, breaking Granny Hamner's mark (17) in 1952. Phillies romp over Mets, 13-0, at Citizens Bank Park.

    Jimmy Rollins celebrates moving past Larry Bowa for the most games played by a Phillies shortstop (1,731) with a lead-off home run off Josh Johnson in Miami.

  • August 15, 1958

    Richie Ashburn gets his 2,000th hit when he singles in third inning off Carlton Willey of Braves at Milwaukee.

  • August 15, 1990

    Terry Mulholland pitches 6 0 no-hitter against San Francisco, the first ever at the Vet. It is the first by a Phillies pitcher at home this century and eighth of the 1990 season, a major league season.

    Phillies extend their longest winning streak of the century to 13 games with a 7-5 decision in Montreal. The Phils hadn't won that many in a row since 1892.v

  • August 16, 1984

    Juan Samuel hits 16th triple, a new rookie record for the Phillies. CF Von Hayes joins Samuel with 30 plus steals, first for Phillies in 72 years. Cubs win, 6 5, in Chicago.

    Statue of Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Kalas is unveiled in pre-game ceremony at Citizens Bank Park.

  • August 16, 2016

    Chase Utley had a magical night in his return to Citizens Bank Park, two home runs, including a grand slam, two long standing ovations and two curtain calls in 15-5 Dodgers romp.

  • August 17, 1894

    Collecting 28 singles out of a club-record 36 hits, Phillies destroy visiting Louisville, 29-4. OF Sam Thompson hitx for the cycle, three singles, a double, triple and home run in seven at-bats.

  • August 17, 1972:

    Steve Carlton wins his 20th game of the season and 15th consecutive, longest streak in Phillies history, 9-4 over Cincinnati before 42,635 at the Vet. The streak began June 7 and ended August 21. ERA for the 15 wins was 1.33.

  • August 17, 1957

    Richie Ashburn, known for his ability to foul pitches off, hits spectator Alice Roth twice in the same at-bat. The first one breaks her nose; the second hits her while she is being removed on a stretcher.

  • August 17, 1985

    Phillies match club record by hitting six homers (four in the seventh inning) in 10 4 win over Cubs in Wrigley Field. C Darren Daulton hits two; one each for 2B Juan Samuel, RF Glenn Wilson, 1b Mike Schmidt and 3b Rick Schu.

  • August 18, 1941, 1st game

    Phillies commit eight errors in losing, 13-5, to Cincinnati at Shibe Park. 9 of the runs are unearned. Attendance for the Monday doubleheader was 2,873.

  • August 18, 1997

    Billy McMillon and C Mike Lieberthal hit grand slams as Phillies sink San Francisco, 12-4, at the Vet, the second time in club history they have two slams in one game. SS Ralph Miller and P Lee Meadows did it 76 years ago, April 28, 1921.

  • August 18, 2006

    Mike Lieberthal catches his 1,125th game to break Red Dooin's club record for most games caught. Phillies drop 6-4 decision to Washington.

  • August 19, 1903

    Phillies have 10 consecutive postponements, August 10-19.

  • August 19, 1978

    54,288 are on hand when Phillies blank San Francisco, 3-0, at the Vet. Happy Days softball team, featuring Henry Winkler, plays before the Saturday night game.

  • August 20, 1961

    Scoring four times in the top of the eighth inning, the Phillies end an NL-record 23-game losing streak behind RHP John Buzhardt, 7-4, at the Milwaukee Braves. The streak began with a 4-3 loss to San Francisco on July 29. Seventeen of the losses came on the road.

  • August 20, 1986

    Don Carman loses bid for perfect game when San Francisco's Bob Brenly doubles to start last of the ninth. Phillies win 1 0, on 2B Juan Samuel's homer in 10th, the second time in club history they win a 1-0 extra-inning game on a home run, Ron Northey in 1944.

  • August 20, 1991

    Dickie Thon hits two out, two run homer in the bottom of the ninth to beat Pittsburgh, 6-5. It is the first time since June 28, 1987, that the Phillies come from behind in the ninth inning to win, a stretch of 346 games.
