MLBPA/MLB News Release |
The players will kick things off on Jan. 9, at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, with their annual Players Trust meeting, where they'll gather to review 2012 Trust activities and plan the not-for-profit's 2013 programming and grant-giving.
On Thursday, Jan. 10, current big leaguers and supporters of the Trust will be joined by some legendary former players when they tee off at Del Mar Country Club.
On Thursday evening, players, past and present, including Ozzie Smith, Trevor Hoffman and Tim Stauffer, will join members of the public at the Hilton Torrey Pines, when the Players Trust holds a fundraising dinner to benefit Trust programs, including the Action Team national youth volunteer program. The dinner's entertainment will include renowned artist and YouTube sensation Dan Dunn and his unique and wildly popular PAINTJAM style of work (to be auctioned off on site!). Live and silent auctions of unique baseball and sports memorabilia will also take place.
On Friday, the players and Trust supporters will take their golf games to Torrey Pines, where they'll play the famed South Course before wrapping up their three-day gathering with an awards luncheon at The Lodge.
Tickets for the Thursday evening dinner are just $300 per person or $2,500 for a table of 10. Each table includes a current or former Major Leaguer. A limited number of golf spots remain available. About the Major League Baseball Players Trust
The members of the Major League Baseball Players Association created the Players Trust, a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, to provide resources of caring to those in need by volunteering in causes close to their hearts and encouraging others to do the same. The foundation became the first of its kind in professional sports established and administered by the players.
