Twins walk off victorious
Benoit can't hold it down
Joaquin Benoit gave up two runs in the bottom of the ninth, including a solo homer to Michael Cuddyer and the game-winner to Jason Bartlett, who reached on an Ian Kinsler error, as the Rangers fell to the Twins at the Metrodome. Travis Metcalf gave Texas the lead in the top of the ninth with a solo home run.

Jason Bartlett helped the Twins win the opening game of the series as he reached first on an error to score Lew Ford in the ninth inning as Minnesota defeated Texas. Michael Cuddyer tied it with a solo homer earlier in the final inning. Kevin Slowey tossed six strong innings but got a no-decision.
