The Rangers dropped their third consecutive game to the Athletics, only coming up with two runs off A's starter Joe Blanton. Center fielder David Murphy went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the fifth, but the Rangers only had three other hits off Blanton on the afternoon.
Three solo home runs, two by Dan Johnson and one by Nick Swisher, led the A's past the Rangers on Saturday afternoon. Joe Blanton pitched well to pick up his 14th win of the season, allowing two runs in seven-plus innings while striking out six in his 20th quality start of the year.
