After hitting seven home runs in the first half of the doubleheader, the Rangers' bats went dead in Game 2. The Rangers had only one run and three hits off of Tigers' starter Jair Jurrjens and weren't much better once he exited the game. The Texas batting order didn't put up a run after the first inning in the Game 2 loss.
The Tigers remained four games back in the AL Wild Card race with a win in the second game of a day-night doubleheader with the Rangers. Gary Sheffield, Magglio Ordonez, Pudge Rodriguez and Placido Polanco all had RBI hits to back Jair Jurrjens, who allowed one run to pick up his second win of the year.
