There's something about twin bills. After scoring a record 30 runs in the first half of a double dip in August, Texas tied a Comerica Park record by hitting seven home runs in the first half of a doubleheader with the Tigers. Marlon Byrd led the pack with two dingers, while Vicente Padilla stifled the Tigers with six shutout innings.
Starter Chad Durbin allowed five runs in 2 2/3 innings, but once he left it only got worse. By the end of Game 1 of Tuesday's twin bill the Tigers had given up seven home runs to the Rangers, tying a club record for most home runs allowed in a game. Detroit rallied with five runs in the eighth, but it proved too little too late.
