A's late rally falls short
Rangers 12, Athletics 9
Lenny DiNardo gave up seven runs, three earned, on four hits in 1 2/3 innings. (David Pellerin/AP)
On a hot day in Texas, rain cooled off the field, but Lenny DiNardo couldn't warm himself back up. The lefty returned after a 73-minute rain delay and gave up seven runs in the second inning, though an error by shortstop Donnie Murphy didn't help. The A's rallied in the seventh to make it close, but the hill proved too high to climb.
