Bats stymied by Oriole ace By T.R. Sullivan / MLB.com
Starter Vicente Padilla allowed three runs in the first inning, and the game may as well have been over. Orioles ace Erik Bedard kept the Rangers' offense at bay in dominant fashion, striking out 11 and not allowing a runner past second base until the seventh inning. By the time Texas broke through, its loss was all but assured.

Bedard ties franchise mark By Spencer Fordin / MLB.com
After getting no-decisions in his previous two starts, Erik Bedard snagged a win, and in impressive fashion. The lefty struck out 11, giving him 218 on the season and tying him with Mike Mussina for Baltimore's single-season record. Miguel Tejada and Aubrey Huff provided the runs as each hit a two-run blast.
