After starter Leo Nunez left in the midst of another quality outing with a thumb injury, the Royals found themselves in a 2-1 hole. But they would not go quietly as Alex Gordon tied the game with a homer in the seventh inning and a four-run rally won the game in the eighth.
Texas got off on the right foot with Frank Catalanotto's leadoff dinger, and starter John Rheinecker held up his end of the bargain with 7 1/3 quality innings.
