Just one day after Erik Bedard put on a performance for the ages, Daniel Cabrera showed why the Orioles rotation could be a feared entity if it just had a little more consistency. Cabrera allowed just two runs while striking out eight over six innings, but was left with a loss as the bats could not get going against Texas pitching.
Kevin Millwood enjoyed his fifth straight solid outing, shutting down the Orioles over six innings. Millwood allowed just one run on five hits while striking out four and walking three. Kenny Lofton accounted for most of the Rangers offense, rapping two hits, including a solo homer in the sixth inning that put the Rangers ahead for good.
