Rangers' slide continues
Mariners 9, Rangers 5
Gerald Laird (15) hit his third homer of the season on Thursday. (Elaine Thompson/AP)
 Laird's three-run shot
Frank Catalanotto hit a two-run double, and Gerald Laird hit a three-run homer as the offense posted five in the fourth inning. A 7-0 Mariners lead after three proved too much to overcome, however, as the Rangers fell for the eighth time in nine games in the opener at Safeco Field.
