Center fielder Gary Matthews Jr. drilled a pair of two-run home runs against his former team, but the Angels went on to fall to the Rangers. Shea Hillenbrand and Mike Napoli hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning. Halos right-hander Ervin Santana surrendered six runs -- five earned -- on eight hits over six innings.

Nelson Cruz, who brought a .190 average into the game, hit a walk-off home run as the Rangers edged the Angels. Ian Kinsler connected on a two-run home run, his 10th, while Brad Wilkerson hit a two-run homer and Hank Blalock smashed a solo shot. Mike Wood gave up five runs -- four earned -- in four innings.
