Rookie outfielder Travis Buck celebrated his coming out party in a big way on Friday, hitting his first Major League home run to go with a three-run double to lead the A's to a thrashing of the Texas Rangers. Buck went 2-3 with three walks and five RBIs and A's starter Joe Blanton cruised in the victory.
Four starts into the season, and things haven't turned out the way Brandon McCarthy and the Texas Rangers thought they would when the right-hander was acquired this offseason. McCarthy threw 43 pitches in one-plus innings on Friday, allowing six runs on four hits and two walks in the Oakland win.
