Wasting no time in his first day off the disabled list, Eric Gagne worked a scoreless ninth to earn his first save in a Rangers uniform. Kevin Millwood set the stage by holding the Mariners to one run over six solid innings, and Ian Kinsler hit his club-leading fifth home run in the fifth inning.
Jarrod Washburn was solid in his first start in 10 days, allowing four runs (three earned) in six innings, but the Mariners didn't get the big hit when they needed it. Kenji Johjima went 3-for-3, and Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre each added RBI doubles, but Seattle managed no further damage.
