The Akinori Iwamura hit parade (.529 batting average entering the game) rolled into Texas on Monday, but even with two more RBIs and stellar defense, Iwamura was not enough to slow the Rangers. Rays starter Edwin Jackson was effective for five innings before tiring in the sixth inning. Carl Crawford added a two-run homer.
A relatively quiet pitchers duel turned into an offensive show of force for the Rangers as 11 batters came to the plate in the sixth inning. Six of them scored, thanks in part to big hits by Michael Young and Frank Catalanotto. Ian Kinsler went 4-for-4 in the game and starter Brandon McCarthy pitched six solid innings to get the win.
