Rangers deep sweep Mariners
Three Mariners pitchers surrendered five homers as Seattle dropped its fifth straight. The definitive blows were struck in the sixth inning, when Laynce Nix, Rod Barajas and Adrian Gonzalez hit back-to-back-to-back dingers off Seattle reliever Kevin Jarvis, more than wiping out the Mariners' three-run rally in the top of the inning that erased half of a six-run deficit.

Center fielder Laynce Nix homered twice as the Rangers completed a three-game sweep of the Mariners. Nix's outfield mate, Kevin Mench, also shined at the plate. The right fielder went 4-for-4 and fell a double short of the cycle. The victory keeps the Rangers in first place in the AL West and marks their first three-game sweep of Seattle since April, 1999.
