Russell Wilson To Throw Out Ceremonial First Pitch Prior to Wednesday's Game

Arlington, Texas-Russell Wilson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Texas Rangers game with the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday, April 2 at Globe Life Park in Arlington, it was announced today. Game time for the final contest of the three-game series is 7:05 p.m.
Wilson, who helped lead the Seattle Seahawks to victory in Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2, was selected by Texas from the Colorado Rockies in the Triple-A phase of MLB Rule 5 Draft on December 12, 2013. An infielder, Wilson played two seasons in the Rockies minor league system in 2010-11. He batted .229 with 5 home runs and 26 RBI over 93 professional games those two years with Tri-City (Low-A) and Asheville (A).
In his last professional baseball action with Asheville in 2011, he batted .228 (44-193) with 3 homers, 5 doubles, 4 triples, 15 RBI, and 40 runs scored in 61 contests. He was also 15-for-17 in steal attempts that year. Wilson was originally selected by Colorado in the 4th round (140th overall) of the 2010 June Draft. He played football and baseball at North Carolina State before transferring to Wisconsin.
Wilson participated in the Rangers spring training camp in Surprise, Arizona on March 3, working out with the major league club, being in uniform for the Rangers game with Cleveland, and speaking to the team's minor leaguers.
Tomorrow is also the first Nolan Ryan Beef Dollar Hot Dog Night of the season as well as Dr Pepper Autograph Wednesday.
