Rangers shift Soria to Frisco to get work

Rangers reliever Joakim Soria will be assigned to Double-A Frisco on Wednesday for his next appearance. The move will keep Soria in Texas, as Triple-A Round Rock will be in Nashville that day.

Soria could join the Rangers next week during their seven-game road trip before the All-Star break. The right-hander has pitched five shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out seven and allowing one walk, in five Minor League appearances. His return could help ease the heavy load of Robbie Ross, Tanner Scheppers and Joe Nathan out of the bullpen.

Worth noting

• The Rangers' home game against the Yankees on July 22 has been picked up by ESPN, pushing first pitch to 6:05 p.m. CT. Fox Sports Southwest will still carry the game, and ESPN's broadcast will not be blocked out in the Rangers' television territories.
