Kinsler awarded leadoff homer after review

ARLINGTON -- Ian Kinsler led off the bottom of the first with a home run for the Rangers against the Mariners on Friday. He just had to wait to complete his trot around the bases.

For the second time this week, the Rangers have had a replay review turn a double into a home run. Kinsler's long drive off of Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma was ruled a double as it appeared to hit off the top of the wall and bounce back into the field.

But manager Ron Washington asked the umpires to review the play, and the replays showed the ball glanced off the top of the wall, caromed off a bullpen chair beyond it and then bounced back into play. Kinsler was awarded a home run, his 17th of the season.

It's the sixth time this season he has led off the first inning with a home run, and the 26th time since the beginning of the 2008 season. Both are the most in the Majors.

Adrian Beltre had a double changed to a home run by review on Tuesday against the Indians.
