By T.R. Sullivan / MLB.com
ARLINGTON -- Rangers fans who want to travel to Las Vegas to see their team play can get their tickets beginning on Monday.
Tickets for the Rangers' two-game series with the Cubs on March 17-18 at Cashman Field in Las Vegas will go on sale at noon CT on Monday. The tickets are available at Cashman Field and online at Ticketmaster.com. The tickets are $50 for field seats, $45 for plaza and $35 for reserved, grandstand and berm.
Both games will start at 1:05 p.m. MT in Las Vegas. The Rangers will also have split-squad games in Arizona both days but are expected to bring a majority of their regular players to Las Vegas. Manager Ron Washington said he is planning on making the trip as well.
This will be the eighth consecutive year that the Cubs have traveled to Las Vegas for "Big League Weekend," and they have had 13 sellouts at Cashman Field during that time. This is the first time the Rangers have played in Las Vegas. They were scheduled to play two games at the end of the 2004 Spring Training against the Rockies but both were rained out.
The weekend is being hosted by the Las Vegas 51s, the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.
"The 51s are fortunate to be able to welcome the Chicago Cubs back to Cashman Field for the eighth consecutive season," 51s general manager Chuck Johnson said. "It's also very exciting to have the two-time AL-champion Texas Rangers in Las Vegas as well. Dallas and Chicago are such great tourist markets for Las Vegas and we anticipate their fans traveling in for the event and joining with the local baseball fans to create an incredible baseball atmosphere.
The games will be broadcast back to Texas on Fox Sports Southwest. Those will be the first two of 10 Rangers games in Spring Training that will be on TV. The other eight will be on TXA 21.
TXA's first broadcast will be March 23 against the Giants at 9:05 p.m. CT in Scottsdale. TXA will broadcast seven games from Arizona as well as the April 3 game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington against the Mexico City Red Devils.
KESN 103.3 FM will also broadcast 10 games on radio, beginning with the Cactus League opener on March 4 against the Royals in Surprise. The Rangers game on March 5 against the Royals will be the first of 10 that can be heard on www.texasrangers.com.
Rangers pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training on Feb. 22 with the first workout Feb. 23. The Rangers and the White Sox are the last two teams to report to Spring Training and begin workouts. The Rangers' first full-squad workout is Feb. 26.
