ARLINGTON -- Kenny Rogers became the 14th member of the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame in an official ceremony before Saturday's game against the Indians. Rogers was joined by his wife and two children during the ceremony, amid a throng of Rangers Hall of Famers and assorted club alumni seated in white lawn chairs on the infield. Tom Grieve, who doubled as Rogers' first professional manager in Sarasota, Fla., and as the Rangers' general manager when Rogers made his big league debut, inducted the left-handed hurler. Rangers reliever Darren Oliver, who played with Rogers in Arlington from 1993-95 and again from 2000-01, also made remarks, in which he thanked Rogers for his kindness when Oliver first came to the Majors. Rogers ranks as the Rangers' all-time leader in appearances, is second in on the club's wins (133) and innings (1,909) lists, while ranking third in starts (252) and strikeouts (1,201). He spent 12 seasons with the club, part of two decades in the Major Leagues spread between six clubs.
