Byrd to discuss supplements with MLB
Rangers outfielder, investigators to chat about Conte connection

Byrd has openly talked about use of supplements given to him by Conte, who several years ago provided illegal performance-enhancing drugs used by players such as Jason Giambi, Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield.
Conte, however, has maintained that the drugs he provides Byrd with are legal and Major League Baseball confirmed that Byrd has not tested positive for anything illegal.
According to Yahoo Sports, Major League investigators wanted Byrd to fly to New York last Thursday to discuss the supplements face-to-face. Byrd, however, declined because it was the Rangers only day off in a 20-day span.
Instead, Byrd is scheduled to talk with investigators by phone Thursday at 5 p.m. ET before the Rangers play the Mariners in Seattle, Yahoo Sports reported. He is scheduled to receive another package of supplements that help his "energy and focus," according to Yahoo Sports.
Through Wednesday, the 31-year-old Byrd was batting .287 with eight home runs and 44 RBIs in 73 games with Texas this season.
