Fans are invited to vote for the 30 winners in the All-Stars Among Us campaign, a presentation of People magazine and Major League Baseball, from June 8-24. One winner will be chosen as a representative of every club, and all 30 will be honored at Busch Stadium in St. Louis during the July 14 All-Star Game. One club representative also will be featured in People magazine.
Here are the finalists for the Texas Rangers.
Kathleen Johnson: The resident of Fort Worth runs the annual Bowl for the Cure tournament, which has raised more than $5,000 to fight breast cancer, and she has donated thousands of hours of her time to community service.
Monica Cato Crosby: The Dallas resident and full-time second-grade teacher helps cancer patients and others with diseases that cause hair loss by creating wigs and quick weaves in her free time.
Ben Sater: The Plano resident created KidSwing, a golf tournament for children now in its seventh year, which has raised $660,000 for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, where he was once a patient.
Meanwhile, you can vote for your favorite players with the 2009 All-Star Game Sprint Online Ballot at MLB.com and all 30 sites, and look for Walt Disney Pictures G-Force All-Star Game ballots at Major League and Minor League ballparks.
The 80th Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports, in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and Sportsnet HD, and around the world by Major League Baseball International, with pregame ceremonies beginning at 7 p.m. CT.
