Royals at the plate: In the second inning, Ross Gload lifted his second home run over the right-field wall. It followed Alex Gordon's double. John Buck hit his third homer, also a two-run shot and also to right field.
Rangers at the plate: Marlon Byrd's double into the right-field corner scored Hank Blalock, who walked. Joaquin Arias had three singles.
Royals on the mound: Robinson Tejeda made his first start and registered seven strikeouts in four innings. He also walked three and gave up four hits but just one run, lowering his ERA to 0.73. Jamey Wright worked two scoreless innings with one hit. Julio Pimentel had three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings before leaving with an apparent arm injury.
Rangers on the mound: Starter Vicente Padilla gave up two runs -- on Gload's homer -- in three innings. He pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the third. Warner Madrigal and Kason Gabbard followed with one scoreless inning each. Frank Francisco gave up Buck's home run in his only inning.

Up next: The Rangers come off their only split-squad day and travel to The Ballpark at Camelback Ranch-Glendale for the second straight afternoon. This time they'll play the Chicago White Sox, co-tenants with the Dodgers, on Saturday at 3:05 p.m. CT. In a matchup of left-handers, Matt Harrison is paired with the Sox's John Danks. Also listed for the Rangers are Derrick Turnbow, Josh Rupe, C.J. Wilson and Jason Jennings.
