at Surprise, Ariz.
Saturday, March 7

White Sox at the plate: A.J. Pierzynski singled in each of his first two at-bats, once against Vicente Padilla and one against reliever Dustin Nippert. Chris Getz added a double and a single.

Rangers at the plate: David Murphy knocked two hits, including his first home run of the spring leading off the fifth against reliever Mike MacDougal. Andruw Jones had two hits including a double.

White Sox on the mound: Clayton Richard became the first White Sox pitcher to throw four innings, shutting out the Rangers in the process. The southpaw yielded four hits, three of the infield variety, but also didn't issue a walk or pick up a strikeout.

Rangers on the mound: In just his second Cactus League outing, Padilla hurled four scoreless innings against the White Sox. He gave up Pierzynski's second-inning single and a leadoff walk to Jerry Owens in the fourth, but nothing more. Padilla did not record a strikeout.

Cactus League records: White Sox 5-6, Rangers 6-4

Up next: The White Sox return to Camelback Ranch on Sunday to face the Dodgers, with Gavin Floyd getting the start. Floyd last threw a bullpen session on Tuesday against White Sox Minor Leaguers, during the team's scheduled off-day. Texas travels to Mesa to face the Cubs, with Matt Harrison and Sean Marshall set as the starting pitchers.
