Blalock bangs Rangers to record book

Slugger's double gives club all-time mark for two-baggers

ANAHEIM -- Hank Blalock put the Rangers in the record books when he doubled off Angels pitcher Ervin Santana in the third inning Saturday night at Angel Stadium.

The double was the Rangers' 374th of the season, setting a new MLB record for most doubles in a season. The Rangers entered the game tied with the 1930 St. Louis Cardinals and the '97 and '04 Boston Red Sox.

Blalock batted with one out and lined a ball into the right-field corner for the record-breaking double. The hit brought home Marlon Byrd with a run that gave the Rangers a 4-1 lead.
