Davis delivering at great rate
Rangers rookie putting up impressive RBI numbers
By T.R. Sullivan / MLB.com
Davis has 122 RBIs on the season, including 42 in 46 games for Double-A Frisco and 31 in 31 contests for Triple-A Oklahoma."That's what I want to be known for, a run producer," Davis said. "That's the nature of my job. Driving in runs is one of the most important things you do as a power hitter and a corner infielder. You can hit 25-30 home runs, and if you drive in 120 runs, that's a huge year. But if you hit 25-30 home runs and drive in only 80 runs, something's not all there." Davis' RBI totals could be even higher, but he's hitting just .244 with runners in scoring position, as opposed to .278 overall. "It's something I need to work on," Davis said. "When there are runners in scoring position, I think I put a little too much pressure on myself and chase after some pitches I shouldn't be swinging at. I'm not as relaxed. But that will come in time. It's like hitting with two strikes. I think I've done a decent job getting better as the season has gone along."
