Jennings continues to impress new club

New acquisition allows lone run over four innings vs. Seattle

Rangers at the plate: Josh Hamilton was 1-for-2 with a single and has now reached base in 14 of his last 16 plate appearances. Ian Kinsler had a single and a walk in three plate appearances. Frank Catalanotto, sidelined with back spasms, made his first appearance since Thursday and was 0-for-3.

Mariners at the plate: Miguel Cairo doubled to lead off the third and scored on a sacrifice hit by Charlton Jimerson and a sacrifice fly by Jeremy Reed. Adrian Beltre had his third and fourth doubles in 28 at-bats this spring. Reed also had an RBI grounder in the eighth.

Rangers on the mound: Jason Jennings allowed one run in four innings. He allowed two hits, did not walk a batter and struck out two. Robinson Tejeda pitched a scoreless fifth and has not allowed a run in his last four appearances. Josh Rupe pitched two scoreless innings.

Mariners on the mound: Two long-relief candidates pitched well. Cha Seung Baek was sharp for the Mariners, pitching four scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and one walk. Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey followed with three scoreless innings.

Cactus League records: Mariners 8-11-1; Rangers 10-8.

Rangers up next: Luis Mendoza makes his second start for the Rangers when he pitches against the Athletics at 3:05 p.m. CT on Tuesday in Surprise. Mendoza is continuing his bid for the fifth spot in the Rangers rotation. Justin Duchscherer pitches for the Athletics.

Mariners up next: The Mariners are off on Tuesday. They play the Diamondbacks at 7:05 p.m. PT on Wednesday in Peoria with Jarrod Washburn pitching against Micah Owings.
