Righty Jennings gets off to good start
Newcomer goes two scoreless innings, allows only a walk

Royals at the plate: David DeJesus was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a walk. Ross Gload had two singles and a RBI. Esteban German had an RBI double. Their only home run came when Mario Lisson, aided by a brisk wind, reached the right-field wall.
Rangers at the plate: Josh Hamilton banged a double and two singles in his three at-bats as DH. Ian Kinsler had a perfect day with a double, single and hit by pitch. Michael Young knocked in two runs. So did Ryan Roberts, who connected for a two-run homer to right for a 7-7 tie in the ninth. German Duran's double and Ramon Vazquez's single broke the tie to end the game.
Royals on the mound: Starter Brian Bannister, in his first outing, worked three innings and gave up seven hits and four runs (three earned). Kyle Davies also pitched three innings, giving up one run on three hits. Luke Hochevar had two scoreless innings, but Joel Peralta gave up three runs in the ninth to take the loss.
Rangers on the mound: After a game-opening walk, Jason Jennings retired six straight batters in his two innings. Luis Mendoza, though, was roughed up for four runs and lasted just 1 1/3 innings. Eddie Guardado allowed just a walk in a scoreless inning.
Cactus League records: Rangers 3-1-1, Royals 1-3.
Up next: The Royals will meet the Chicago White Sox at 2:05 p.m. CT on Monday at Surprise Stadium. In a matchup of left-handers, the Royals will start John Bale against John Danks. The Rangers travel to Scottsdale, Ariz., to meet the San Francisco Giants at 2:05 p.m. CT. Left-hander A.J. Murray will start against Giants lefty Noah Lowry.
