Sosa (again), but also so-so pitching

Two more hits for Sammy; Padilla roughed up by White Sox

Rangers at the plate: Sammy Sosa had another big day for the Rangers, going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. He is now hitting .464 for the spring. Catcher Chris Stewart, acquired from the White Sox in the offseason, had an RBI single and a sacrifice fly while starting against his old team.

White Sox at the plate: A.J. Pierzynski renewed his rivalry with Rangers pitcher Vicente Padilla with a home run and a single off him. Padilla caused a stir last year when he hit Pierzynski twice in one game. Luis Terrero and Andy Gonzalez both hit home runs.

Rangers on the mound: Padilla gave up four runs on eight hits in four innings and now has an 8.00 ERA after three starts. He struck out four and did not walk a batter. Ron Mahay pitched two scoreless innings, walking one and striking out two. Wes Littleton and Francisco Cruceta combined to give up six runs in the eighth inning.

White Sox on the mound: Starter Gavin Floyd gave up six runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings and now has an 8.38 ERA. John Danks took over and pitched two scoreless innings, then gave up two runs (one earned) in the bottom of the seventh on two errors by Gonzalez at shortstop.

Cactus League records: Rangers 7-5, White Sox 5-11

Up next:The Rangers are in Peoria at 3 p.m. CT Wednesday to play the San Diego Padres, with Brandon McCarthy pitching against Jake Peavy. The White Sox are back home in Tucson against the Milwaukee Brewers, also at 3 p.m. CT. Jon Garland is pitching for Chicago.
