Young tallies three hits; Sosa extends hitting streak

Angels at the plate: Erick Aybar hit a two-run homer in the eighth for the only runs of the game. Tommy Murphy's fifth-inning single with two out was the first hit for the Angels.

Rangers at the plate: Michael Young had three hits, including a double off the right-center wall in the sixth. Sammy Sosa singled to lead off the second and has hit safely in all seven "A" games he has played.

Angels on the mound: Starter Dustin Moseley went five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and one walk, while striking out one. Chris Bootcheck blanked the Rangers for two innings, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out two.

Rangers on the mound: Jamey Wright, a non-roster invitee who is a candidate for the fifth slot in the rotation, helped his cause with three perfect innings against the Angels. He struck out two. Mike Wood pitched two scoreless innings, giving up two hits and one walk.

Cactus League records: Angels, 8-4; Rangers, 6-4

Up next: The Angels will start Hector Carrasco on Monday against the Royals at Surprise Stadium. Gil Meche will be the Royals starter. The Rangers will start Kameron Loe against the Brewers. The Brewers' probable is Carlos Villanueva. Kevin Millwood will start a "B" game against the Brewers. Both Rangers games are at Maryvale Baseball Park.
