ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers announced today they will return batting practice times to their traditional spots for the 2007 season starting with tomorrow's home opener against Boston.

"The attempt to flip the batting practice times was intended to enhance the fan experience at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, coupled with many other activities planned for the season," said Rangers President Jeff Cogen. "Unfortunately, due to circumstances and timing beyond our control, we are unable to initiate this program at this time."

These added fan experience items for the season include, among many others, additional promotions such as T-Shirt Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays, a $1 million overhaul of the ballpark's sound system, a new 1,200 stall parking lot, improved lighting for the field of play, upgraded point of sale areas for quick transactions at concession stands and ticket kiosks where fans can purchase seats and/or retrieve will call tickets without going to the box office.

With this change, gate opening times for home games at Ranger Ballpark in Arlington will also revert back to 2006 times. For 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. starts, the home plate gate for season ticket holders will open 2 ½ hours before first pitch with the first and third base gates opening 2 hours before game time. The remaining gates will then open 1 ½ hours before the game. For day games the season ticket holder home plate gate will open 2 hours before first pitch with remaining gates opening 1 ½ hours before those games.

For the 2007 home opener scheduled for tomorrow, Friday April 6 vs. Boston, all gates will open at 10 a.m.
