Texas recalls RHP Josh Rupe from Oklahoma
Rangers option OF Freddy Guzman to RedHawks

ARLINGTON -- Texas Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels announced today that the club has recalled RHP Josh Rupe from Triple-A Oklahoma and optioned OF Freddy Guzman to the RedHawks.

Rupe, 23, combined to go 1-1, 3.38 ERA (12 ER/19.1 IP) with 2 saves and 7 strikeouts over 18 appearances for the RoughRiders and RedHawks this season. He began the season on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation and transferred to the 60-day DL on April 21. He was activated from the DL on June 29 and optioned to Oklahoma.

Rupe went 1-0, 2.79 ERA (3 ER/9.2 IP) over four appearances/one start for the Rangers in 2005. He will fill the roster spot vacated by RHP Francisco Cordero who was traded earlier in the day to Milwaukee.

Guzman, 25, was batting .286 (2-7) over four games in his second stint with the Rangers. In his first appearance with the club, June 20-July 3, he walked in his only plate appearance.
