The Texas Rangers announced today that they will host ten pre- or post-game concerts as part of the Texas Rangers concert series on The Patio in 2006.

Following the Saturday afternoon game (12:20 p.m.) of the Lone Star series versus the Houston Astros, country music star and native Texan Robert Earl Keen will perform on the newly renovated north lawn area called The Patio.

The Patio is located on the north lawn between the home plate and third base entrances. Permanent green fencing, in the style of Ameriquest Field's ironwork, will run north from The Patio's concert day entrances on both the east and west sides. Additional adjustable fencing will be employed, according to the size of the crowd, to connect the permanent fencing along the north boundary. Picnic tables, grills, and concession stands will be in place on The Patio before and during all games, as well as post-game for concerts.

The first concert will be a kickoff celebration on Saturday, April 1, prior to the exhibition game against the Florida Marlins. The concert will feature local bands Loda Dimes and Superstring playing from 4:00 p.m.-6:45 p.m. in conjunction with a tailgate party on The Patio hosted by the Rangers flagship radio station KRLD 1080. KRLD will broadcast live, give away prizes, and provide games including bounce houses for the kids. On Monday, April 3, Rangers television announcer Josh Lewin and his band Independent George will perform a post-game concert following the Opening Day matinee versus the Boston Red Sox.

The remainder of the concert series will feature former American Idol semifinalist and national recording artist Celena Rae during a pre-game concert on Saturday, April 8, a Radio Disney-themed pre-game concert on Saturday, May 27, and Green River Ordinance, who opened Bon Jovi's American Airlines Center show in January, following the game on Friday, June 16. Additional artists for concerts on July 28, August 12, Christian music concert on September 2, and September 16's Hispanic Heritage Night will be announced at a later date. Admission to all concerts is free with the purchase of a Texas Rangers game ticket.
