Rangers sign LHP's Jesse Carlson and Kevin Walker
Both players agree to Minor League contracts with invites to Major League Spring Training

Arlington, TX -- The Texas Rangers announced today that they have signed LHP Jesse Carlson and LHP Kevin Walker to Minor League contracts with invites to the club's Major League spring training camp.
Carlson, 24, spent the 2005 season in the Toronto organization, going 4-3 with a 2.79 ERA (18 ER/58.0 IP) and 5 saves in 61 relief appearances with Syracuse (AAA) and New Hampshire (AA). He started the season with Syracuse, going 1-1, 4.82 (10 ER/18.2 IP) with 17 strikeouts over 22 relief outings in his Triple-A debut. Carlson was transferred to New Hampshire on June 10 and went 3-2, 1.83 (8 ER/39.1 IP) with 5 saves and 42 strikeouts in 39 appearances for the Fisher Cats. He has gone 14-5, 2.81 (67 ER/214.2 IP) with 19 saves and 241 strikeouts over 174 games with the Detroit, Houston and Toronto organization after being selected by the Tigers in the 15th round of the 2002 June draft.
Walker, 29, is entering his 12th professional season. He spent the 2005 season in the Chicago White Sox organization, going 0-1, 9.00 (7 ER/7.0 IP) in 9 relief appearances over 2 stints with the Sox. Walker spent the majority of the campaign with Charlotte (AAA), recording a 1-2 record and 5.28 ERA (27 ER/46.0 IP) with 52 strikeouts in 51 relief outings. He has spent time in the major leagues with San Diego, San Francisco and Chicago (AL), going 7-3, 4.76 (54 ER/102.0 IP) in 122 career games. An Irving (TX) native, Walker was originally selected by San Diego in the sixth round of the 1995 draft out of Grand Prairie (TX) High School.
