2013 Fall Classic artifacts on the way to Hall of Fame
Ortiz's bat, Uehara's spikes and Farrell's jacket among the items to be displayed
The 2013 World Series champion Red Sox have already made their way into the record books, and now a number of artifacts from their title run are on the way to Cooperstown.
A collection of artifacts from Boston's third World Series championship in the past 10 seasons were set to arrive at the Hall of Fame on Thursday, including a bat used by World Series MVP Award winner David Ortiz in Game 5.
The memorabilia will be on display throughout a year-long "Autumn Glory" exhibit that celebrates baseball's champions of the postseason. They will first be revealed at 2:30 p.m. ET on Thursday in the Bullpen Theater, and the exhibit dedicated to the 2013 Red Sox will open in early December.
It will feature closer Koji Uehara's spikes worn throughout the Series, manager John Farrell's jacket, catcher David Ross' helmet and mask, shortstop Stephen Drew's glove, rookie infielder Xander Bogaerts' batting gloves and umpire crew chief John Hirschbeck's jacket.
The bat outfielder Jonny Gomes used to hit his decisive home run in Game 4, which jump-started Boston's three-game winning streak to clinch the title, arrived in Cooperstown on Wednesday and will also be included in the exhibit.
