ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have placed infielder Michael Young on paternity leave after his wife Cristina gave birth to their third son, Antonio, on Thursday evening. Young can be away for a maximum of 72 hours.

The Rangers called up infielder Luis Hernandez from Triple-A Round Rock to replace Young. He was hitting .262 with eight home runs, 66 RBIs and eight stolen bases at Round Rock.

Hernandez has played in 120 Major League games for the Orioles, Royals and Mets from 2007-10. He has a career .245 batting average.
