Rangers Press Release
Rangers Place RHP Colby Lewis on 15-Day DL; Recall LHP Martin Perez from Triple-A Round Rock
Arlington, Texas – The Texas Rangers announced this afternoon that the club has placed right-handed pitcher Colby Lewis on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Thursday, with right forearm tendinitis. To take his place on the active roster, the Rangers have recalled left-handed pitcher Martin Perez (#33) – pronounced mahr-TEEN – from Triple-A Round Rock.
Lewis was on the disabled list from June 24-July 17 with the same injury. He made one start/appearance since being activated from that stint on the disabled list, taking a no decision in the Rangers’ 4-3 loss on Wednesday at Oakland (5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R-ER, 2 BB, 3 SO). Lewis has gone 6-6 with a 3.43 ERA (40 ER/105.0 IP) in 16 games/starts for Texas this season.
Perez made his major league debut with Texas this season during Lewis’ first disabled list stint, going 1-1 with a 5.54 ERA (8 ER/13.0 IP) in 4 games/2 starts. He made one relief appearance with Round Rock after being optioned on Wednesday, allowing one run in 2.0 innings on Friday vs. Omaha (40 pitches). Overall at the Triple-A level this season, Perez has gone 5-5 with a 4.59 ERA (44 ER/86.1 IP) in 16 games/15 starts.
With these moves, the Rangers still have a full 40-man roster.
