Rangers top Royals after Padilla exits

Rangers at the plate: David Murphy hit a two-run single to highlight the Rangers' four-run fifth inning. Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz both had two-hit nights. Michael Young went 0-for-2 to snap an 11-game hitting streak. Andruw Jones hit a two-run double in the seventh.Royals at the plate: David DeJesus hit a pair of doubles in his first two at-bats. He scored after a first-inning double and drove in a run with a third-inning double. Mike Aviles had two hits in the bottom of the order. Coco Crisp went 0-for-3 after entering the game with a league-leading .500 on-base percentage. Rangers on the mound: Vicente Padilla was supposed to go four innings, but he left after two because of some stiffness in his right forearm. He allowed one run on two hits and struck out one. Brandon McCarthy followed with four innings, allowing one run on three hits. He ends the spring with a 4.39 ERA, the lowest of any of the Rangers' five starters this spring. Royals on the mound: Zack Greinke finished the spring with a 9.21 ERA after allowing four runs in five innings. He threw four scoreless innings before allowing four runs in the fifth. He walked two and struck out seven. Robinson Tejeda struck out two in a scoreless sixth but allowed two runs in the seventh. Cactus League records: Rangers, 21-13; Royals, 17-14 Up next: The Rangers and Royals meet for the ninth time this spring when they face each other at 1:05 p.m. CT on Saturday at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
