Royals at the plate: Mark Teahen, shooting for the second-base job, went 2-for-3 with a triple and raised his average to .500 (21-for-42) with 11 RBIs and five homers this spring. Miguel Olivo also got his 11th RBI with a double. Ryan Shealy had two hits and is batting .250 (10-for-40).

Rangers at the plate: Nelson Cruz launched his sixth homer, a two-run shot to left-center field in the first inning. On base was Michael Young, who extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single. Cruz has 16 RBIs, one behind Josh Hamilton. Hank Blalock tripled into the right-field corner and scored on an error in the fourth. Marcus Lemon's sacrifice fly scored Frank Catalanotto, who doubled, in the ninth to snap a 5-5 tie. Travis Metcalf and Andruw Jones added RBI singles.

Royals on the mound: Horacio Ramirez, hoping to become the lone left-hander in the rotation, went five innings and gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits. One was Cruz's two-run homer. He walked none and got 10 ground-ball outs. Doug Waechter, after two tough outings, rebounded to pitch a perfect inning. Roman Colon gave up three runs in the ninth.

Rangers on the mound: Scott Feldman, in his fifth start, pitched five innings and gave up four runs on six hits. He struck out six. Jimmy Gobble, released by the Royals, faced three batters with an out, a walk and a single. Jason Jennings took over and allowed a tie-breaking double.

Cactus League records: Royals 15-13-3, Rangers 16-12-1.

Up next: Zack Greinke, the Royals' second-game starter, will go against the Seattle Mariners at 3:05 p.m. CT on Sunday at Peoria Stadium. Greinke had one of his best spring outings recently against the A's with eight strikeouts and two earned runs in five innings. Jarrod Washburn will start for the Mariners.

Chris Davis, who has four homers, 10 RBIs and a .366 average in his last 14 games, will be back in the Rangers' lineup on Sunday after a day off. Brandon McCarthy will start in a 3:05 p.m. CT game against the Los Angeles Angels at Surprise Stadium. The Angels' starter is Sean O'Sullivan.
