Guardado won't play in Classic
Lefty will stay in Spring Training rather than pitch for Mexico
ARLINGTON -- Rangers pitcher Eddie Guardado has decided against playing for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic.Guardado, who signed a Minor League deal with the Rangers earlier this week, originally said he was going to play with Mexico. But he has decided against it, preferring to stay in Spring Training with the Rangers. Guardado is from Stockton, Calif., but both his parents were born in Mexico. He was 4-4 with a 4.15 ERA with the Rangers and Twins last season.
