ARLINGTON -- The Rangers will be among the teams that watch former All-Star closer Chad Cordero throw this week in California, general manager Jon Daniels confirmed.

The Rangers have already looked at his medical reports and have interest in the right-hander, who had 113 saves for the Nationals in 2005-07. A torn labrum in his right shoulder limited him to six games in 2008.

The Rangers go into Spring Training with Frank Francisco as their closer and C.J. Wilson as his main competition. Wilson had 24 saves last year before undergoing elbow surgery in August, and Francisco took over at the end of the season. The Rangers also have signed Derrick Turnbow to a Minor League contract.

The Rangers are also looking for left-handed relief and are among the teams talking seriously with free agent Will Ohman. Eddie Guardado remains another possibility.
