OAKLAND -- The Rangers shifted their rotation so Vicente Padilla can pitch on his normal four days of rest.

Padilla was slated to start Monday against the Tigers, but he will instead pitch Sunday against the Athletics. Padilla made the request after coming off the disabled list Tuesday and beating the Mariners, 7-3, in Seattle.

"When Padilla says he wants the ball on the fifth day, I'm going to give him the ball because there's no telling what he'll do on the sixth day," manager Ron Washington joked. "I'm not questioning Padilla. With all the injuries that he's gone through, if he wants the ball, I'm going to give him the ball."

Scott Feldman was supposed to pitch Sunday, but he's being moved to Saturday. Brandon McCarthy will be pushed back to Tuesday, giving him a couple extra days of rest.

"It will be good for Mac to get the days he's going to get coming off his arm injury," Washington said.

McCarthy has made just four starts for the Rangers after missing 4 1/2 months because of severe inflammation in his right forearm/elbow area.
