Young leaves with hip flexor injury
Shortstop appears to injure himself on swing in first inning
SEATTLE -- Rangers shortstop Michael Young left Tuesday's game against the Mariners in the middle of the first inning with an unspecified left hip flexor injury.
Young batted in the top of the first inning and flied out to right. It appeared from replays that he injured himself on the swing while he flied out. He did not come out on defense at the bottom of the inning. The club declined to offer any more information.
The game-time temperature at Safeco Field was 53 degrees, which may have had something to do with the injury.
