Rangers at the plate: David Murphy hit a pair of home runs for the Rangers, giving him four this spring. Jason Botts, who still has a shot to make this team as a right-handed designated hitter, went 2-for-4. Botts is getting an opportunity because Frank Catalanotto is sidelined with back spasms and likely won't play until Monday. Nelson Cruz hit his second home run of the spring.

Rockies at the plate: Scott Podsednik was on base in each of his first four plate appearances, with two walks and two singles. He had a two-run single in the seventh inning. He has nine walks in 11 games. Ian Stewart hit his second home run of the spring leading off the second inning.

Rangers on the mound: Eric Hurley allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in four innings. He also struck out two. Wes Littleton followed him on the mound with two scoreless innings, but Frank Francisco allowed three runs in the seventh.

Rockies on the mound: Mark Redman, fighting a stiff wind blowing out to center field, allowed seven runs on 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings. Redman, who walked one and struck out three, has a 9.24 ERA for the spring.

Cactus League records: Rockies 7-9; Rangers 10-6.

Rangers up next: Sidney Ponson will pitch for the Rangers at 3:05 p.m. CT on Sunday when they play the Athletics in Phoenix. Ponson is making his second appearance and first start for Texas.

Rockies up next: Opening Day starter Jeff Francis will climb the hill Sunday, facing fellow southpaw and former Rockies pitcher Shawn Estes as Colorado hosts a San Diego split squad at 2:05 p.m. MT. Francis will be followed by Manny Corpas, Brian Fuentes, Matt Herges, Juan Morillo and Chris George.
